Just home from seeing Benjamin Zephaniah at Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank. Naomi and I had bought tickets long, long ago and suddenly the date was upon us. I like doing that. It's nice have something in the future to look forward to.
He was just great. Too great for my words. I left feeling thoroughly inspired and very, very happy.

You are so right- as usual - and have reminded me to book some things to soften the blow of the descent from summer into autumn.
Heard him on R4 the other day and he is really very worth listening to!
By the way, how are your Trail of Tears? Mine are pretty slow, much slower than the Cosse Violette and much much slower than my 'bog-standard' runners. Not many female flowers on the pumpkins, and butternut squash seem very shy! Hoping to plant out Purple sprouting next week if the rain lets up! Had enough rain now - need more hot sun!
